2015 — American Baptist Women’s Ministries Introduces Two Interns in 2014-2015

    March 24, 2015
American Baptist Women’s Ministries is empowering two interns working in women’s and girls’ ministries during the 2014-2015 program year.

Chantá Barrett, a student in the Master of Divinity program at Palmer Theological Seminary, serves in leadership in the Pastoral Care/Discipleship ministries at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is using her spiritual gifts for the arts in delivering the Gospel by the vehicle of television and drama production. A native of Philadelphia, Barrett’s internship with American Baptist Women’s Ministries focuses on women’s ministries in urban settings and multicultural ministries with young adult women, through building relationships and planning events in the Philadelphia area. Barrett’s internship serves as her theological field education placement with Palmer Theological Seminary, beginning in September 2014, and concluding in May 2015.

Thaw Eh Moo from Myanmar is spending ten weeks of her first visit to the United States in an internship with American Baptist Women’s Ministries. Thaw Eh Moo earned a B.A. in Religious Studies and Master of Divinity and Master of Theology degrees from Myanmar Institute of Theology (MIT) in Yangon, where she is an assistant lecturer teaching compulsory and elective courses. Since 2005 she has written children and youth levels of curriculum for Karen Baptist Convention in Myanmar, and works with Myanmar Baptist Convention in areas of Christian education. During her internship, she wants to experience how AB Women’s Ministries uses technology in its work, and how AB Women’s Ministries is structured to accomplish its mission. Her internship began with attendance on March 17th at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women events in New York City.

Virginia Holmstrom, ABWM executive director, said “I’m delighted that AB Women’s Ministries can provide a teaching-learning environment for interns especially interested in pursuing ministry vocations with women and girls.”

American Baptist Women’s Ministries is a Christ-centered ministry with a commitment to encourage and empower women and girls to serve God..
