On January 12, 2021, American Baptist Women’s Ministries (ABWM) hosted its quarterly Sisters in Prayer virtual gathering. Women from across the country gathered to pray for peace in our nation and the AB GIRLS ministry. Prayers were led by ABWM staff, executive committee leaders, and members of the National Leadership Team of AB GIRLS. Prayer focused on leadership, mental wellness, and friendships.
The event also included a time for participants to share prayer concerns to be united in prayer for these concerns. Prayer is the foundation on which ABWM stands. Leaders of ABWM start each year with 60 days of prayer and fasting. “This 60-day period is a time of centering and seeking God’s blessings for our ministries. It allows us to intentionally connect in prayer and reflection personally and organizationally. We also select a book that is relevant to our mission and critically consider its implication and impact,” stated Rev. Dr. Gina Jacobs-Strain, executive director of ABWM.
ABWM lives out the belief that the prayers of righteous women are powerful and effective (James 5:16). Please join us on April 8, 2021, at 8 pm EDT for our next Sisters in Prayer event. Participants will pray for our Young Adult Women’s Ministries and young women in our nation. Topics will include vocation/career, healthy relationships, financial stability, spiritual growth, and mental health. This vital ministry provides opportunities for women and girls to build relationships in their peer groups and provide resources for young adult women and encourages young adult women to be involved in leadership at all levels of the organization, their communities, and local churches. At each time gathering, attendees may feel the strength of the prayers, and can stay connected even during this pandemic.
