"Pastoral, Practical, Prophetic, and Personal: A Resource on Immigration"

Rev. Dr. A. Roy Medley, General Secretary of ABCUSA, has called together an Immigration Taskforce to assist American Baptists in grappling with issues of immigration, refugees from violence in Latin America and elsewhere arriving at our borders, and those who are living in the U.S. without documentation. Members of the team are Dr. Warren Stewart, pastor of First Institutional Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona; Rev. Ray Schellinger, International Ministries missionary in Mexico; Rev. Salvador Orellana, American Baptist Home MIssion Societies national coordinator of Intercultural Ministries; Rev. Sandra DeMott Hasenauer, associate executive director of American Baptist Women's Ministries, and Rev. Dr. José Norat, International Ministries area director of Ibero-America and the Caribbean*.

"Pastoral, Practical, Prophetic, and Personal: A Resource on Immigration," includes four Bible study sessions to help faith communities and individuals more deeply explore what Scripture has to tell us about loving our neighbors and doing justice in very complicated circumstances. The resource also includes several personal accounts from people in the U.S. and in Nicaragua that help us to better understand why people make the decisions they do, and just how complex the system is. Finally, there is a resource page listing websites and places to go for additional educational materials, worship resources, advocacy tools, and up-to-date information on legislation.

Use this resource with adult or older youth Christian education classes, men's or women's ministry groups, as part of a small group study, or adapt it for  your own individual learning opportunity. Watch for announcements when it becomes available soon!
