Empowerment Series: “Embracing the Chapters of Our Lives” Webinar Speakers

Sophia Meadows is a high-school senior whose life reflects a deep commitment to service, leadership, and community. As an International Baccalaureate Diploma candidate at Springfield High School, she is actively involved in student life, serving as an officer in both Student Council and National Honor Society, competing internationally on the Mock Trial Varsity Team, and completing her fourth season as a varsity scholar-athlete on the women’s soccer team. She also supports younger students in her community as a recreation league coach and youth sports referee.

Sophia is an active member of First Baptist Church of Springfield, where she participates in youth group and serves in the nursery and Sunday School. Her faith community has been a constant source of grounding, mentorship, and encouragement as she navigates her teenage years.

Sophia is a Gold Award Girl Scout, and has also earned her silver and bronze awards. She serves Girl Scouts in multiple leadership capacities— including two terms as a National Council Delegate, a member of the Board of Directors for Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, a watercraft Program Assistant, and Camp Counselor. Her Girl Scout experiences and service have strengthened her confidence, her public voice, and her passion for youth empowerment, service, and inclusion.

Today, Sophia represents the perspective of a young woman growing up in a rapidly shifting world—one balancing academic rigor, mental health awareness, social and digital pressures, identity formation, and the grounding influence of faith and community. She looks forward to sharing her experiences and insights on what it means to meet these challenges with resilience, purpose, and hope.

Aris C. Smith is a 2023 graduate of Shaker Heights High School,
and currently, a sophomore at Roanoke College (Salem, VA),
majoring in Communications and Sociology. When not studying,
Aris enjoys listening to K-pop music and creating fashion design
pallets. Aris also has spent summers volunteering with the
Cleveland Leadership Center, and her church summer youth
program, R.E.A.C.H. She has a passion for using her artistic skills
as a photographer, painter, digital artist, and creative writer. A
“budding entrepreneur,” Aris launched a notecard business, “Artful
Expressions by Aris,” using her own artistic designs including her
paintings, photos, and digital art on the cards. Aris is a member of
Restoration Ministries of Greater Cleveland, where her mother
serves as senior pastor.

G. Tiara Sargeant was born in South Carolina and raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio.
She is a proud Historical Black College/University graduate, earning her Bachelor
of Arts in Strategic Communications with a minor in Leadership Studies from
Hampton University, and holds a Master of Science in Positive Organization
Development from Case Western Reserve University, where her practicum focused on racial reconciliation within the church. Tiara currently serves as a Program Manager in the Global Learning & Leadership Institute at Cleveland Clinic, where she designs experiences and manages programs that support the organization’s culture and engagement efforts. Deeply committed to community engagement, she serves as President of the Cleveland Chapter of the National Hampton Alumni Association, Board Chair for New City Cleveland, and mentors students through Urban Community Schools. A member of City Church in Cleveland Heights, she is passionate about racial justice and creating spaces for dialogue, understanding, and growth. Overall, she seeks to be a social architect, building connections that foster transformation across professional, personal, and community arenas.

Joy Andrews is a faith-driven leader, prophetic teacher, and builder devoted to
spiritual formation, healing, and alignment with God’s purpose. With a background
in organizational leadership and vision stewardship, she carries a grace for bringing
structure, clarity, and strategy to God-given vision. Through her work developing
leaders, mentoring women, and creating transformative biblical studies, Joy walks
alongside others through seasons of transition and identity formation—equipping
them to live with courage, wholeness, and holy boldness

Olivia Banks has been a young adult partner with ABWM since 2019. She works
fulltime at Ryder as a Supply Chain Manager and is a high school assistant
women’s soccer coach. Olivia has been married to her husband Adam Banks since
2014 and they have two boys James and Henry. The family of four call Springfield,
Ohio home where Adam serves as Pastor at First Baptist Church. Olivia is proud to
be an active member of church life events and involved in a congregation that
values ministries of love and justice.

Glorimar Camareno is an editor and translator from Puerto Rico. With a background in Business Administration with a major in Marketing, she became a translator given her love and interest for languages. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she began to work on translations of diEerent types of materials such as articles, administrative material, sermons, and lectures. This led to translating full issues of magazines, books, Christian education material, as well as doctoral dissertations. As time went by, she ventured into the field of editing doctoral dissertations. Her work experience in editing and formatting includes Doctor of Ministry and Doctor of Philosophy theses for students at various seminaries and
universities in the United States and Puerto Rico, both in English and Spanish.

Glorimar has studied at Bible Institutes and has been exposed to ecclesiastical work and the environment of seminaries and theological education for over 40 years. She has served the Christian Church (Disciple of Christ) in diEerent capacities since she her teen years. She was the Spanish translator for Chalice Press’ New Day for Christian Women magazine for several years. Her work with each doctoral student goes beyond simply editing and formatting as she walks with each pastor the last stretch of their long race to reach the goal of the degree they are pursuing, taking a role of pastoral care of some sorts to those who
have been the people who usually provide pastoral care themselves, but not necessarily receive it. Editing for her is a ministry. Furthermore, her marketing background allowed her to work with several organizations in Puerto Rico and the United States in Marketing positions. She became familiar with the seminary environment as she worked with the Development OEice at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia

In addition to being an editor and translator, Glorimar is the moderator and lead writer for an interdenominational prayer group made up of women from Puerto Rico and from diEerent parts of the United States, Latin America, and even Europe. Over 400 women have joined together to pray for one another, whether they know each other personally or not. It is an army of women lifting each other up. Glorimar lives in Puerto Rico, with her two daughters.

Reverend Kathryn R. Johnson is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. Educated in the
Cleveland Municipal School District and a graduate of Ursuline College with dual
Bachelor of Arts degrees in Fashion Design, and Merchandising Management.
Kathryn is also a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the Fashion Institute of
Technology in New York, NY.

Rev. Johnson has extensive experience working with the senior population; has
served as a member of the African American Outreach Committee (A Hospice of
the Western Reserve Advisory Committee) and as a panelist for the HWR’s World
Hospice & Palliative Care Day Program. Rev. Johnson answered God’s call into
the ministry in 2009, licensed to preach in July 2011 and ordained by ABC/USA in
January 2018. She holds a Certificate in Vocational Pastoral Ministry from the
American Baptist Leadership Academy. Rev. Johnson’s passion for helping
women identify ways to nurture their inner spirits through self-care as well as
maintain their outer beauty, led her to found Purify Ministry which focuses on the
“Five R’s – Relaxation, Reflection, Release, Rejuvenation and Restoration.”

Rev. Johnson currently serves as an Associate Minister, and Treasurer for
Restoration Ministries of Greater Cleveland, Euclid, Ohio. Most recently, Rev.
Johnson served as a Board Member for the Cleveland Baptist Association (CBA) –
Metropolitan Ministries Chair, and Associate Regional President for the American
Baptist Women’s Ministries of Greater Cleveland. She also serves as Secretary for
Women Together in Ministry of Greater Cleveland, and a pulpit supply minister
for CBA. Serving as a delegate for both ABC/USA Biennial and the Progressive
National Baptist Convention Annual Session, Rev. Johnson is a member of United
Pastors in Mission. Rev. Johnson’s favorite scripture verse is Psalm 46:10 “Be Still
and know that I am God.” To all this, she simply says “My God is AWESOME!

Pastor Cloud serves as the Senior Pastor of The Grace Church of God in Christ, in Cleveland, Ohio, she has served for 16 years. Pastor Cloud is also a license Evangelist Missionary in the Church of God in Christ. She has a heart for God’s people, wanting to see souls being saved, and filled with the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Cloud love working the works of God and find it a privilege and an honor to be called by Him.

Pastor Cloud attributes her love for God to her mother, Mother Jimmie D. Howard, who taught, and showed her God’s love.

She is the proud mother of two daughters, and grandmother of
three.

Dr. Narriett Butler is an in-time motivational speaker, author, and leadership trainer committed to transforming lives and fostering holistic development. She is the founder of Fresh Fire Inc. Ministries, Provision of Promise Worship Center, FireNet Pastors Network, and Over the Goal Women’s Business Academy. She’s a passionate leader in vision casting and leadership mentoring. Dr. Butler holds a Doctor of Ministry and Master of Divinity in Urban Missiology & Church Planting from Biblical Seminary and is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Hospital Chaplaincy Program. Her expertise extends to human, social, and spiritual development, church planting, and empowering women in business. A native Baltimorean, Dr. Butler has called Philadelphia home for over 40 years, where she is a proud mother and widow. She has also made an international impact, preaching and training in Ghana, Kenya, and Jamaica.

As a widow, she is the mother of one son, James, and nine grandchildren.

Dawn M Doerr-Johnson is a long-time member of American Baptist Women’s
Ministries and is often found serving on boards and committees. She got her
start as a writer by writing for our former magazine and has now published Children’s Mental Health Resources for the Church. She is a dually licensed professional therapist holding a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist and another as a Mental Health Counselor. She has an extensive background working with children and specializes in girls and young women. Passionate about helping kids achieve their full potential, Dawn helps them deal with anxiety, depression, anger, and executive functioning deficits using an evidence-based approach.

Karla Rivera Avilés serves as Director of Programs for American Baptist Women’s Ministries. A devoted Puerto Rican attorney with 18 years of experience, she has centered her career on advocating for survivors of domestic violence and sexual aggression. Her work reflects a strong commitment to justice, faith, and community service. Karla brings valuable experience from ecumenical work in Puerto Rico and Peru, particularly in championing the rights of women and children. At ABWM, she is dedicated to creating programs that empower women and girls to thrive through faith and courage.

Erin Davis began her journey at ABWM as a social media ambassador and now serves as the Marketing and Communications Director. With over 15 years of experience in the marketing industry, Erin brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role. Rev. Dr. Christine A. Smith begins as Director of the Rudd Empowerment Center in October 2024, bringing extensive experience in leadership development, ministry, and advocacy. Rev. Dr. Smith is passionate about empowering women in ministry and providing them with the tools and resources to excel in their calling. Her leadership at the Rudd Empowerment Center focuses on advancing education, mentorship, and advocacy initiatives that support women both within and beyond the faith community. Committed to ABWM’s mission, she works to elevate the voices of women and girls globally, fostering an environment where their leadership can thrive.

Reverend LT Armstrong began as Executive Director of ABWM in July 2024, bringing a breath of experience to the role. Rev. LT Armstrong is dedicated to the spiritual, educational, and social growth of women and children, particularly girls. Her leadership focuses on innovative programming, strategic partnerships, and fostering a community where women and children can thrive. She is committed to advancing ABWM’s mission, ensuring that every woman and child is empowered through faith to advance beyond any obstacles or barriers they face.

Rev. Dr. Cassandra Foster began her journey at ABWM in 2022 as a content creator. In her new role as Outreach Coordinator, she brings her expertise and passion for connecting with and empowering communities. Reverend Cassandra focuses on building outreach strategies, representing ABWM at various conferences, and engaging women and girls in the organization’s mission. Her work ensures that every woman and child can connect, grow, thrive, and find a sense of belonging within the ABWM community. Lianne Quaynor — Program Coordinator

Lianne Quaynor began as our Program Coordinator in October 2024 focused on developing and coordinating programming to promote human rights, women’s empowerment and faith based advocacy at American Baptist Women’s Ministries. She brings experience working on global issues regarding women and girls rights and human rights for various non-profits and international organizations as well as with youth ministry in making spaces of faith more inclusive and intergenerational. She is passionate about education, volunteering, and social justice but most importantly being able to empower, elevate and equip women and girls to be leaders in making their dreams and aspirations a reality and the world a better place.
